The Rice Research Station, Moncompu is located at Moncompu, Thekkekkara of Champakaulam Panchayat in Kuttanad Taluk, Alappuzha. Situated 14 km from Alappuzha in the southern coastal part of the Kerala State, the station is located in the heart of Kuttanad, the rice bowl of Kerala.The research station has a total area of 8.57 ha, including garden land and    wetland.
