Crop Protective Herbicide Applicator Crop protective herbicide applicator is a machinery for directed application of herbicides while simultaneously minimising herbicide spray drift and the subsequent harm to crop brought on by phytotoxicity. The Patent Office, Government of India has granted patent for the invention entitled, ‘A Crop Protective Herbicide Applicator’ to the Kerala Agricultural University, for a period of twenty years with effect from 25-03-2021.
Ms. Aswathy Sreekumar, a 2019 graduate from the B.Sc. (Hons.) agriculture program at the College of Agriculture, Vellayani, has achieved a significant milestone by securing the esteemed Erasmus Fee Waiver Scholarship. This scholarship will enable her to pursue the Danube AgriFood Master (DAFM) program jointly offered by the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU), Czech Republic, and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), Austria.
In what is being hailed as a laudable accomplishment, nine students from the BTech Biotechnology program at the College of Agriculture, Vellayani, have passed the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2024 with outstanding scores. In an impressive academic achievement, Ms. Koya Madhuri Mani, a postgraduate student from the Department of Agronomy at the College of Agriculture, Vellayani, has received national recognition for her MSc thesis. Her research, focusing on rice science, has been selected as the "Outstanding MSc thesis in Rice Science" for the year 2023 by the Association of Rice Research Workers (ARRW) at the ICAR - National Rice Research Institute (NRRI), Cuttack.
In a significant move to enhance sustainable farming practices among Scheduled Caste (SC) farmers, a series of training sessions were recently held in Thiruvananthapuram district, under the All India Network Project on Soil Biodiversity-Biofertilizers SC Sub Plan. These sessions, focused on the popularization of microbial inoculants, took place in Kilmanoor, Pulimath, and Veganoor, witnessing the participation of seventy-five farmers.
The International Workshop titled "Climate Resilient Rice for Kerala" successfully concluded on March 7, 2024. In a remarkable achievement, a team from the Entrepreneurial Cell (ECell) of the College of Agriculture, Vellayani, has been awarded the second prize in the prestigious Youth Ideation Challenge 2023. The competition, which focused on the theme of Agrobiodiversity, was held on March 6, 2024, at the Kerala State Biodiversity Board headquarters in Trivandrum.

The conference, focusing on "Harnessing Statistics and Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable and Smart Agriculture," was held from February 2nd to 4th, 2024, at the N.M.
