The scenario of forest management and conservation in Kerala has changed drastically since 1980’s. There has been a major shift from production forestry to conservation forestry and off late forests are looked upon based on the ecosystem services it provides. These changes have reflected in the research agenda of College of Forestry, KAU too. The College of Forestry, Kerala Agricultural University was established in 1986. Since then the CoF has made considerable research contributions in terms that is being widely implemented by various stake-holders such as State Forest department, farmers, industrials and general public. Our reproach has been focusing on the various broad disciplines such as agroforestry, tree improvement, tissue culture of forest trees, forest management, value addition of forest produces, wood preservation, value addition of lesser used timbers such as coconut, human-wildlife conflict, biodiversity documentation, taxonomic inventory, GIS mapping etc. College of Forestry, Kerala Agricultural University proposes to have a one-day consultative workshop on “Stakeholder analysis of research priorities in forestry sector of Kerala” on 2nd March 2019.
