The formal session of Kisan Mela, 2022 started at 9.30 am with over 300 farmers registering for the event. The formal welcome address was given by Dr Suma Nair, Programme Coordinator, KVK Thrissur. Sri. Narendra Sigh Tomar, the Hon’ble Minister Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India inaugurated the event in virtual mode, broadcasted to the farmers in the Mela venue. Sri. K.R Ravi, Ollukkara Block Panchayath president inaugurated the event at KVK Thrissur. Smt Jayasree T.V, Principal Agriculture Officer gave a detailing of the programme “Njngalum Krishiyilekku”. Smt Hairuneesa C A, Project Director ATMA ,Thrissur addressed the event describing the programme Kisan Mela and “Kisan Bhagidari Prathmikta Hamari” campaign. The programme was felicitated by Smt Sofie Rajan, Ward Member, Madakkathara Panchayath and Smt Sathya Varma, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Ollukkara Block thanked the gathering. Dr Aneena E.R, Associate Professor, KVK Thrissur and Sri. V.S Roy, (Rtd) Joint Director, Dept of Agriculture and Farmers`S Welfare, Government of Kerala handled the technical sessions on Processing-Value Addition and Organic Framing respectively. The exhibition stalls of Kavungal Agro Tech had brush cutters, tillers and ATMA had an IFS model for display. Stall of Department of Animal Husbandry had various publications on livestock, feeds, animal health management etc. The stall of State biocontrol laboratory had display and sales of nine types of bio control agents for plant growth, pest and disease management. The Agricultural Research Station, Mannuthy and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Thrissur of Kerala Agricultural University exhibited various farm machinery, bio products and other agri related products. Farmer – Scientist Interface was also organized Cultural Programmes & farmer interaction were also conducted.
