The CeRA Regional Training cum Awareness Programme 2024 for the Southern Region was successfully held at Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) on October 16, 2024. This event, held at the Central Library of KAU, welcomed 60 delegates from South Indian states, providing them with an opportunity to enhance their skills and awareness regarding resource sharing and information accessibility within the agricultural research community. The inauguration was graced by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of KAU, Dr. B. Ashok, who delivered an inspiring address on the importance of resource sharing and collaboration in agricultural research. Dr. H.K. Tripathi, in-charge of CeRA, ICAR presided over the function, emphasizing the pivotal role of CeRA in advancing research accessibility. Dr. A. Sakeer Husain warmly welcomed the delegates, setting a positive tone for the day’s events. Sri. Devendra Kumar, CEO of Informatics, provided an insightful introduction to the programme, highlighting its objectives and expected outcomes.
A notable highlight of the event was the distribution of awards to outstanding libraries in the Southern Region, recognizing their efforts in promoting the usage of CeRA, resource sharing in the J-Gate @CeRA platform and profile creation. Kerala Agricultural University was awarded for its exemplary performance in two categories: Best Resource Sharing and Highest Profile Creation on JGate Discovery Platform among SAUs/CAUs/Deemed Universities for the Southern Region (2023). These awards underscore KAUs commitment to advancing information sharing and supporting research initiatives across the region.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Sri. Sreekumaran S., Librarian at KAU, who expressed his gratitude to all participants, organizers, and dignitaries, marking the end of a successful and enriching programme.
